For there's nothing better to do.............

Solitude....... a necessary evil at times, yet an evil it is.....

There are times like these, when there is nothing to do.... absolutely nothing. Anything is boring, even typing this out, listening to Metallica full volume, eating, sleeping................... BOREDOM can kill all.

But then again there's nothing better to do and you've got to do something, and then typing on your blog comes to your mind and then you tend to go ahead mechanically without thinking just to while away the boredom. But your idea, since its crappy, fails and you end up getting bored and also typing crap, which does not make any sense at all.

And then just to liven things up, you search for quotes on boredom to put in your blog, just to make things attractive. But the mood is too strong and it prevails. The mood actually takes over everything, even Google, which gives out really boring quotes.

A red page seems a little bit interesting and gives you

' If you knew what you were doing, you'd probably be bored.' - Fresco's Law

Which then implies that you really know what you are doing since you are so bored. But that again is crap, coz you have no idea whatsoever of what you are doing. You only know that you are typing. Why, what are questions that remain unanswered.

And then out of the blue, your friend buzzes you and invites you to dinner. And thats when you stop and leave.

Blog Revamped!

Isnt this meaner and better ?

A Bitter Sweet Symphony This Life!

I was watchin this video today by the English rock band The Verve.... not that it was the first time I saw it, seen it many times before. But its today that it really went into my head and that I really understood what the video wanted to say. Maybe because of the mood I was in today, the song really clicked in my heart. The video seems utter nonsense.... just a weird looking guy walking down a sidewalk for 5 mins is, maybe, not a good idea for a great video but with the lyrics and the music added to the video.... we have a masterpiece.

Something this simple can have such a deep meaning. How fitting! This is the power of human expression :) :P.

A waste of time?

I was orkutting tonight when i came upon a link to a friend's blog. And on his blog he writes about how blogging is a waste of time and the same time can be put to constructive use. So true...I totally agree. Thinking and typing out these huge posts (i know the lengths of my posts are getting out of hand, i'll try and keep this one short) does really consume a lot of time. Time during which a true IITian is supposed to study or do something constructive, although no one does either :P.

But then why the hell do we all love to blog?

Personally, it is actually a good thing that i blog, i get to vent out my feelings and in general think about something i usually don't think about in an organized and structured manner, to put into words. Its also good once in a while to write something that comes straight from your imagination, hell the last time I did that before I started blogging was when i participated in a creative writing competition. And in any case,I know that if I don't blog and try to use my time i generally use for blogging constructively, the only constructive thing i will end up doing is watch a movie or something which again is nothing constructive. So here I am blogging away......Its certainly not a waste of time for me, nothing compared to the time i waste doing other things.

As for the blogging fever that has gripped the world, I don't really know the reason why. Ranting away about day to day happenings on a blog is really dumb and idiotic according to me. One should keep all that in a personal diary.

As for me, I write when anything comes to my mind....... my blog is more like my opinion about stuff.

Read it if you like.....

Hey....

Its Diwali time and I am back home for a whole week! That is avoiding mess food 36 times which is like awesome!!!!!!!

And there's nothing to do.... i mean i have infinite things to do as in study, read up something for future use, learn the guitar... etc etc but there's a time and a mood to do all that, isnt there?

So all i did for three days is nothing.... watched infi soccer.. nice games... manu beating liverpool.... awesome goal by ferdinand... and a very good display by real madrid... they're back... which is good since this means that the spanish league will now be competitive. I dont know why... but i hate any sport which is not competitive and is dominated only by a few...... i hated the time when the aussies dominated cricket... or when schumi, lance armstrong, tiger woods et al. dominated. Its much more entertaining if it is competitive.

And i watched 3 movies till now....one by one

'Don' was a pleasant change. A decent bollywood thriller after a long time... i liked the treatment farhan has given the original... typical bollywood masala filmed in a hollywood style, a good package overall.Three hours of light minded timepass. Worth it.

Then today.. 'Remember the Titans'. Awesome movie. Great power performances by all... i liked the little girl in particular, awesome acting by her. And Denzel Washington too. I really felt for the guy who gets paralyzed... just reminds me how thin the line between a 'positive' and a 'negative' can be. One moment you are having a whale of a time, revelling in your success, and the next moment all can come crashing down. It also underlines the importance of good health in your life... achieve anything you may, you can enjoy it only with good health. Then again, the incident in the movie also teaches about the triumph of mind and will over matter and the never-say-die attitude. So much to be learnt from a movie!

And then the last.. 'The Butterfly Effect'. The best of the lot by far. This movie was a stunner. Simply superb. The effect from chaos theory was very aptly portrayed... how a minor change can have major consequences in a larger system.

'It has been said something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world.' - Chaos Theory

The movie also hints at the theory of existence of multiple universes depending upon our decisions, something very well presented by Richard Bach in his book 'One' (i read it long back, gotto read it again now, dont remember much). I had a similar dream once, in which i conceptualized different planets on which I existed in different time frames... in the sense that if I went to the other planet I will meet and older or a younger me... spacetime travel of some sort.. leaving all the complexities aside. Not exactly multiple universes, but time travel and all. The movie made me remember all that.

Anyway... this post is getting nowhere, and i am bored.
Time for another movie.
Adios. Till we meet again........

I wanna blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The intervals between two successive posts on my blog are getting really long, and that is really bad cause it doesn't mean that I am not thinking or anything, it means that I am getting really lazy or I am so busy wasting my time that I can't get time to write....... anyway here's one after a really long time.... have done too many things in the meanwhile.. and even grew older!!!!

Somehow whenever I decide to write, I am always having deep, profound, serious thoughts on my mind and so nothing funny ever appears here. But believe me I am not the serious guy,the nerd... no way. I am normal, cheerful, fun-loving and all ... only that I am in IIT which I believe is a collection of the weirdest people in the country........... seriously. You have to be here to know.....

Sample this....... we had an off lecture followed by a really boring quantum physics lecture which I almost always sleep through. So we decided to bunk the same..... and while walking back stumbled upon this topic.... the discussions that led to the same were really different, I don't want to get into that...but the main point we considered was what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'.......

I know its a basic, fundamental, debatable topic since time imemmorial, but two long hours of debating, which did digress a lot, by the way, sparking off completely new thoughts about alcohol, Gandhiji and quantum mechanics, did shed light upon a lot of new things and was a nice learning experience too. Funny, how arbitrarily, walking back to the hostel, joking with friends
turns out to be a great lesson in life........

What is 'right' anyway? Is there is a difference between individual moral and right? Is there a universal 'right' and 'wrong'? One may say that universal right is what is right according to a majority of the society, but then again this clearly is not true. Copernicus was ridiculed and outcast because he propounded a 'right' against what was universally 'right' at that time.... so there arises a difference between considered 'right' by society or 'acceptance' and 'right'.....

So will it be better to say that 'right' is strictly individually defined? What is 'right' for me is what i believe in and want to do most? But then someone will want to murder his wife for being an infidel cause according to him it is against his morality and is 'wrong' for her to cheat on him. Zapping into her reference frame, 'right' to her is to satisfy her primary physiological desires which her husband fails to meet, etc etc..... just a difference of opinion.. and both of the perspectives are justifiable. Hell, even a suicide can easily justify the reason for him to end his life in a perfectly convincing argument, cause that is 'right' for him, and he is labelled a psycho by the society relying on 'acceptance'......

And what about all the teaching that goes on in school and college? Is what we are being taught 'right'? Its just that a number of scientists believe that something is true, makes it 'right'... this is going on majority opinion again. I will be called a fool if I say that all physics laws are all crap and that we are all in an interval of time delta-t in which everything thrown up falls back to the ground and a tomorrow will come when say we all will fly around..... to hell with all the things they teach us. We don't need no education...............long live the music of Floyd.

Anyway, what do we really infer? We agree upon the difference between acceptance and universal 'right'. And 'right' is a hybrid form of individual moral..... the real problem then is to define social morals, unacceptables.... the distinction is not very clear.

And then i just stumbled upon the same argument in a book I was reading... by Richard Bach (Running From Safety, awesome book, awesome author....) between him and his wife. He sums it up as follows. Right or good is what makes u happy which is a sense of well being.... its opposite is bad, wrong, unhappy. So right or wrong is individual. Also, consequences should be kept in mind. A murder may bring a temporary state of well-being, but consequences harm this state. And so on.....Pretty nice way to put it.

So what I really got from all this... what I really believe now is that yes, 'right' is for an individual to define, within limits. One is answerable to his own actions and decisions and so they should not bring any harm to society, in general... so no crime basically. Majority, polls, etc give only a cumulative measure of the individual 'right's, there is only social acceptance. There is no universal wrong and hence every opinion deserves existence and some amount of respect however ridiculous it may be. For lack of better techniques, decisions on the same should be taken by majority of perspective or opinion.

I'm Still Alive

Man feels good to be writing again...... its been long since my last post.... but then again i had nothing to write about really and did not have a comp to write a post at leisure either.....

So since i got some time to write today... here goes.

What have I been doing all these days? Well i am reading this book called The Simoqin Prophecies by an Indian author called Samit Basu. And let me tell you its awesome!!!! Its subtle humour makes you rotfl =)) and it has all the magical, mythical and mythological characters that you might have ever heard of...... Basically its a spoof and I say that the writer has more than succeeded... Well it does not match up to the ultimate all time classic The HitchHiker's Guide.. but then again it is not expected to. It does although provide you with the dose of entertainment that you need.... Can't wait to devour off the book and lay my hands on the second part of the supposed Gameworld Trilogy.. The Manticore's Secret. I am quite surprised though that the book hasnt made it big yet. It should be sold in the intl market. Will be a bestseller for sure!

Well this book had a Hero School in which special training is imparted to wannabe heroes (who are born with the talent, mind you) to create the superhero breed. And all kinds of weird superheroes emerged from this school. And that made me think.... how weird can a superhero get? Of course in case of a superhero there are no limits to his/her talent and abilities ... after all he/she is a Superhero(ine) [henceforth i drop the female gender although i acknowledge and respect and love superheroines as well :P] and well we all love super-people [thats better] and emulate them (at least some people do... remember the kid who jumped out of the window thinking he could fly after he saw Krrish ? A round of rofl for that :) ) Since there is no limits to human imagination, i guess a number of superheroes are possible with an uncanny knack for doing a number of things impossible for lesser mortals to do.

The other day i was watching this show on TV where the superhero called 'Chutta Man' in which the hero arrived in the right place at the right time to hand out the exact amount of change required by a person to buy anything from anywhere. The prospect seems interesting doesn't it? How many times does one go to a shop and then grumble and argue about not having the change to pay? This guy will be practically helpful for sure. On a more serious note this could actually lead to some sort of facility in which such a transaction could be made possible.... exchanging money for the required amount of change to pay....... will be quite useful i guess.

This made me think. Or as i am learning psychology currently..... this sent signals through synaptic junctions in my brain (duh)..... about my own superhero. If i think really hard and come up with something really good... i could make a movie! And become RICH!!! Calls for the Rapid Eye Movement to start (read dreams.... its psycho man!)

And i am still thinking............

Firestarter

Sounds good doesn't it? But why Firestarter one may wonder. No... its no obsession with the Stephen King novel or the Drew Barrymore film (i have been through neither). Neither is it an aspiration to become something like what the lead singer of Prodigy does in the video... (which is rather cool by the way.... check it out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyMnYW7GW2A&search=firestarter%20prodigy ) . In fact I am Firestarter coz i like the word.... gives you a good feeling of being wacky and weird, cool and important. Just a childish, wannabe nickname if you may please.

Also its my alias in Age of Empires II.... i am a big fan and am addicted to this wonderful game and in it I am Firestarter. And i am quite good at it too.... For those who haven't yet discovered the game, please do. You are missing out on something in life. :)

Glad I didn't.... someone 14.. start the game already!!!!

Few seconds of madness II

We have a new example!!!! Watch this!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF4iWIE77Ts

That was vicious, for want of better words to describe it, but spectacular nonetheless!!! What an amazing headbutt! No one in the WWE can match up to that! Hell not even a crazy bull from Spain running into a red flag can deliver that kind of a blow (well maybe it can....but this is surely visually entertaining :) ) But why did he do it? Zizou, the French magician, who single handedly took a lacklustre French team to the final... why did he lose his cool in the last few minutes where glory was there waiting to be claimed? Did we expect it from him, a sportsman of his calibre?

Supposedly the Italian Materazzi insulted him, racially abused him. Well that is a foul in itself and deserves a separate red card anyway, but then again couldn't the sudden vent of anger waited till the end of the game? A few seconds of madness? Exactly.

But then again possibly it was a statement from him. A passing remark at the end of his career highlighting the unfortunate situation that still prevails in this world. What I fail to understand is why some people cannot live with the fact that they are equal and not superior to other fellow humans around them. Yes there should be competition and there are bound to be differences in abilities but then again shouldn't we be sane enough to acknowledge them as gifts (or maybe misfortunes) rather than use them to discriminate?

Yes, if everything were that simple then these problems wouldn't have arisen in the first place. I guess its just the way it is supposed to be..... maybe in some parallel universe, possibly everything went the way it should have been... everything just clicked and fell into place. And we are all stuck in the wrong universe!!!!

Why am i getting all serious? It was just a football match. And what a cracker it was! I enjoyed every minute of it. I wanted Les Bleus to win but alas! I guess Domenech made a few mistakes and Trezeguet was an idiot! Well done Italia!!! The world cup was simply awesome.... gave me some entertainment in an otherwise idle vacation. Its an amazing celebration... people from all over the world coming together and enjoying.I only wish that the darker side to it fades away fast.

Isn't it just people kicking the ball around with some arbitrarily defined purpose? :) Fascinating that so many people including me are crazy over it! These small things do in fact prove that after all we all are animals........

A few seconds of madness?

Well, umm...what can one say? few seconds, few words, one single action.... how important can these be? well very..... and there's lots of evidence to justify this. a single action.... few seconds of madness can prove to be a nations undoing.....

Sample this..... right from the early ages..... a few seconds of madness led to major events that changed the face of this world. Madness for love with Paris abducting Helen and voila....Troy burnt! Madness invited Babur to India to resolve a simple dispute and what followed was centuries of foreign rule! Madness to sink an American vessel....madness to attack Pearl Harbour... and down went Hiroshima and Nagasaki ! well any doubt left?

Even more recently....take the football world cup for instance.... an idiotic lunge by Carlos Puyol leading to the big upset? France beating Spain? Just a twitch of the nerve, a surge of adrenaline and it was bye bye Rooney, dashing England's dreams! A few seconds of madness?

Isildur turning back from Mount Doom... a small prank and a single wrong decision in school leading to 14 years of isolation and revenge later (Oldboy/Zinda...take your pick)..... quite similar the situations arent they?? Few seconds of madness. Obviously considering movies do in fact reflect on real life.... or is it really the other way round?

Forces you to think...does'nt it? Is it just Destiny? Is it just the way it is penned down by Him? Are these the twists, the climaxes (if indeed that is the plural) in the great storyline of life itself? If so...who wrote this? whose movie are we all acting in? whose book? whose dream? whose reality? whose mind? Who indeed is Him?

There just might be someone out there don't you think? Zoom out world! Let me see Men in Black end ..... :)

14

Well hullo there! You may choose to completely ignore whatever follows this post or even this line....but then again you may not...and that is the choice you should make. if i were you i would have chosen the latter option. but i guess you have already made the choice. now you must understand it. :)

sorry for the cliche... welcome to 42....which is by the way the answer to life, the universe and everything (for those who don't understand this do try and find out what that means and where that comes from. you will really enjoy it.....). all this and whatever follows is just a collection of weird little symbols from the so called english alphabet... and it may or may not make any sense. its just a result of few signals travelling from my brain through certain neurons to my fingers tapping away on a standard qwerty keyboard...................

aahhhhh enough already. message delivered.
well whatever.............
