Realisations
I just came back from a trip to Helsinki. Went on a majestic cruise ship sailing across the Baltic Sea... was an awesome experience. But this is no travelogue or diary entry telling you everything about my trip. This is not the average crappy blog you know... :)
1. We went to the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival and saw Morbid Angel play! Then went to a bar called Tavastia in Helsinki to see Norther live in concert. And I must say that it is the first time that death metal had an impact on me. The energy levels of Norther are phenomenal. Although the vocalist growls, you can make out the lyrics. He has a fantastic stage presence. And the melodic death metal that goes along with it was thrilling with the amazing acoustics of the place. A check later on wikipedia showed that Tavastia is one of the oldest and best rock bars in Europe with bands like GNR and AC/DC having played there. And I Was there \m/

Kiitos Norther!
2. Finnish is the weirdest language in this world. Yes, even weirder than Asian languages. It feels like the people there make random noises from their mouths and seem to understand each other. Finns write using the English alphabet, with certain special characters - like an 'a' with two dots on top of it, ditto with the 'o', etc. The words are so long that its hard to read them at one glance like we do in English. and most of the times vowels are placed adjacent to each other, making them impossible to pronounce for the non Finn. I was happy with my Kanahampurilainens... :).. did not try any more Finnish.
The language is also weird. Sample this:
Hej is Hi.... Hej Hej is Bye :P
Moi is Hi.... Moi Moi is Bye :P :P
But then again the cheerful 'Moi' coming from the infinitely cute waitress at the fast food joint makes your heart melt with delight. ;)
I read somewhere later that JRR Tolkien loved the Finnish language and it was his inspiration to learn languages and invent the Elvish. Yep!... everything fits into place. It did sound Elvish like to me.
I am quite sure now that Scandinavian people were the inspiration behind the concept of elves. With their fair skin, good looks (women), blonde straight hair.. etc. And coming from a weird land speaking extremely weird languages... it all fits!

Women
Thought of writing an arbitrary post.. about women!
1. Swedish women are undescribably amazing... all the legends you may have heard of them are true. I am really going to miss them when I go back home... sigh!
2. Aishwarya Rai is so NOT the most beautiful woman in the world. I just saw a woman twice as beautiful as her today.. She looked a bit like Scarlett Johannson though... I guess Agnosticism is justified here too....
3. I was listening to this song by the Cranberries on a train journey when I thought of these two women together...one is obviously the lead singer - Dolores O Riordan... the other one is Robin Tunney... I find them cute.. and have no idea why they came to mind together. :P

Movies...
I am on a movie binge.. prcatically watching a movie a day.
1. Across the Universe - Its unforgettable and awesome, especially for a Beatles fan.
2. School of Rock - Great movie, fantastic acting by the kids...
3. Hard Candy - Nice & disturbing.
4. Taare Zameen Par - Quite an honest and touching movie. Especially for Bollywood.
5. Saw 4 - Gore Extremum, but fun nonetheless.
6. Juno - Okayish, simple.
7. Superbad - McLovin :D . A better teen movie than most. Similar to Can't Hardly Wait.

Information Age?
Originally whoever this idea belonged to, it travelled quite a bit before making its way here ..
Some spectator at the Sydney Cricket Ground held up a banner saying whatever follows, when the Little Master, Sachin Tendulkar was batting for his well deserved century after a spate of unlucky misses. Thank God for that! Lets hope for many more delightful innings from him.
Coming back to the message which travelled, a cameraman there was watchful enough to spot it and focus his camera onto it. So the message on the banner was broadcast to the world by means of satellite (live I might add), and some people happened to see it. Among those, few were in India (or maybe many), due to the early morning hours during which the match is aired. One of those was a guy who lives in my hostel. But he did not tell this to me. The message had a much longer journey ahead of it!
What this fellow did was to post that as a status message on Gmail Chat. So, the next step comprised a journey through an underwater cable (probably) to a server somewhere in the world and then back through a similar route to where I was, in a room a few metres away from the guy who saw it in the first place. Or maybe he didn't see it either, he just read it somewhere.
So, in the information age, as we call it, the message travelled from Sydney, Australia, to outer space and then back onto the Earth to some studio in India. From there, to a TV set in Powai, Mumbai, then underwater across continents (maybe) for a round trip back to Powai.
Nice. Just like the message is.
"Commit all your crimes when Sachin is batting. They will go unnoticed because even the Lord is watching" - A banner at SCG
P.S. - If its boring, I apologize. It reflects my state of mind.

Karma.
I don't know if I am biased and my mind is inclined to see things in a particular way, although they may not be so, but recently life has been teaching me a lot. Its like incidents are becoming practical lessons, and I have been learning the hard way. I am the burnt child that is dreading the fire now. However I hope this does not last long and life gives me lessons a bit easily, coz if this goes on, it'll play on my mind real bad, as it has been these days. This is got to end.
Peace of mind, concentration, punctuality, over-confidence.... incidents are teaching me so much about them. I have been through harsh lessons of reality and have been rudely awakened and set straight. I sure hope that I take the lessons for good and improve.
I am beginning to believe in karma. What you do is what you get return. I thought I'd never say this, with all the belief in God's story for all and destiny earlier. But things change.
Maybe I think a lot for no reason.

~/*$^*)(%#@!
Alfred : "Why do we fall down Master Bruce?
So that we can learn to pick ourselves up again.."
Bruce: "Haven't given up on me yet?"
Alfred: "Never!"
---- Batman Begins....
Profound.
